Key Kitchen Trends For 2020

2020 brings with it a myriad of different trends and there are no trends quite so impactful as those we feature in our kitchen.

Whether you’re remodelling your entire home, or just looking to spruce up the kitchen ready for a summer of hosting, we have the key kitchen trends for 2020 that you need to know about.

Brass Kitchen Accessories

Whether it’s brass finishes drawing the eye to stunning cabinetry or simply brass accessories adorning the worktop, brass will be taking over this year. Combine brass accessories with dark paint and you’ll see a striking effect that’s guaranteed to wow this year.

Two-tone Kitchens

In 2020 it’s all about the two-tone kitchens. This isn’t limited to cabinetry. It could incorporate contrasting finishes on walls and floors or even cabinets and their worktops.

By mixing colours, you immediately draw the eye and when done carefully can direct the eye to one area in particular giving the illusion that the kitchen is much bigger than it is. Try looking at darker cabinets coupled with a lighter or contrasting hue on the worktop.

At the likes of Total Tops, expert worktop installers, you could enjoy a multitude of different worktop colours to ensure you get exactly what you’re looking for in anything from quartz to granite and even Corian worktops.

If you like the idea of this trend but don’t want to make such drastic changes, you may even want to consider areas that aren’t visible such as the inside of the drawer and cupboards. When opened, they’ll offer a real treat for the eye.

Blue Hues

There have been a few popular kitchen colour trends but none quite so popular as the beautiful blue hues we’re seeing of late. Blue can be incorporated in any manner you wish, from dark dramatic blues to brighter, royal blues and even duck egg blue. That’s the beauty of a colour trend, you can incorporate it in a way that suits you and your style best. We’ve seen some beautiful examples of dark blue cabinetry paired with white tristone worktops from Total Tops and we predict it’s going to be a trend going well into the next few years too.

Double Islands

When it comes to the family kitchen, we believe they need a family sized central feature. There are numerous options for doing this to keep it looking on trend too. Consider placing two islands perpendicular to each other. This works whether the islands are exactly the same height but can also look just as good if the islands differ in height. In order to really achieve this, we recommend working with a bespoke worktop installer who can create the worktop needed to join the two and give you that major wow factor as you enter the room.
